Fear of the unknown: Neophobia as an adaptive response to uncertain risks.

Dr. Grant Brown obtained his PhD from Memorial University in 1993.  Following Postdoctoral fellowships with Prof. Jan Smith (University of Saskatchewan, ’93-96) and Prof. Jean-Guy Godin (Mount Allison University, ’96-97), he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, Union College (Schenectady, New York). In 2001, he joined the Department of Biology, Concordia University, where he is currently a Professor of Cognitive and Behavioural Ecology. His research group focusses on the evolution of predator avoidance strategies among prey populations.
